No two New York City apartments get ready for a TV the same way: a prewar wall needs a different plan than a condo with a service elevator. When you book, tell us about the wall and how your building handles access, and we'll plan around it — arriving on time, working neatly, and standing behind the installation with a warranty of up to 3 years.

Mounting on New York City walls

New York apartments range from prewar walk-ups and brownstones to co-ops and newer condos. Renovation work around the city turns up both older lath-and-plaster construction and drywall on steel framing, so a neighborhood name won't tell us what's behind your paint. Our own NYC-area archive shows the same mix — drywall, concrete, brick, metal studs and plaster — which is why we look at the actual wall before choosing a mounting method.

On suitable drywall with no studs behind it, TVs up to 55 inches go up on metal snap-toggle anchors with a fixed mount; a smaller TV can take a tilting mount, but a full-motion arm is never an option there. Larger setups may call for wood blocking, which we agree on with you separately. On brick or concrete, we match the masonry anchors to your screen and bracket; for tile, we take our time with each hole. On drywall, cables go inside the wall where possible; on brick or concrete, a cord cover keeps them tidy, so we never have to cut into the masonry.

What should I confirm with my NYC condo before booking?

Ask management for its contractor requirements in writing and send them to our team before you book. Every building sets its own rules, so confirm entry arrangements, drilling hours and elevator access in advance; with those details in hand, we can plan a visit that fits your building.

Can you drill exposed brick in my NYC rental?

Get the go-ahead from your landlord or management before the visit — a neighbor's mounted TV doesn't mean you have permission too. Once drilling is approved, our technician checks the brick and mortar before marking anchor points. We don't cut channels into brick to hide cables; a paintable cord cover keeps the run neat instead.

My prewar apartment wall is hard to identify. Can you help?

Yes. Share what you know about the wall, but don't read too much into the building's age. We inspect the wall and what supports it before choosing hardware: a plaster surface doesn't reveal what's behind it, and our drywall-without-studs method isn't a blanket answer for old plaster walls.

What if my Newport, Jersey City wall sounds hollow?

A hollow sound alone isn't enough to choose anchors. One Newport resident who wasn't sure at first turned out to have metal studs, but that doesn't tell us how every apartment there is built. Confirm your address with our team before arranging a visit; the actual wall and the mount's instructions decide the approach.

Why does hiding cables add time to a NYC installation?

Mounting the screen and routing its cables are two separate parts of the job. On drywall we can hide the cables inside the wall where possible; brick and concrete call for a slim cord cover instead. Tell us your wall material and the finish you'd like, and we'll walk you through the work before we start.

Do you also mount TVs in Hoboken walk-ups?

Yes — Hoboken is in our own order archive. Before booking, tell us your floor, the TV's size and any tight turns on the stairs, and check your building's work hours. With those details in hand, we can plan the visit together; same-day availability depends on the schedule.

How high should a TV be mounted?

In a living room we put the center of the screen at seated eye level — about 42 inches from the floor for most sofas. In a bedroom, where you watch lying down, we go higher: the center is usually around 48–55 inches. We measure to the center of the screen, not the bottom edge. We don't hang a TV "gallery high" just because the wall is empty. If it has to go higher (over a dresser or a fireplace), we use a tilting mount angled down so you're not craning your neck.

How long does TV mounting take?

A standard mount on drywall takes about an hour for most TVs. Hiding the wires inside the wall, mounting on brick or concrete, a soundbar or a very large TV adds time — usually up to 2–3 hours in total. We don't rush the job to squeeze in more appointments, and we tell you the expected time before we start.

Do I need to buy a TV mount?

No. If you already have a mount, we'll install it — as long as it's rated for your TV's size and weight. If you don't, just tell us when you book: almost always your technician brings a suitable mount — fixed, tilting or full-motion. We won't install a mount that isn't rated for your TV or your wall, even if you've already bought it; we'll suggest a safe replacement instead.
